Thank you so much for taking the time to browse through my website, it is genuinely appreciated.
My artistic journey began many, many moons ago when I was a young boy in primary school.
While the other boys spent every waking moment kicking a ball, or talking about someone else kicking a ball, I was completely immersed in drawing, colouring and creating my own little universe.
I consistently won any and all art competitions that came along during my primary school days, much to the annoyance of my fellow pupils.
However, during secondary school, as puberty kicked in, all interest in art fell by the wayside.
It was not until much later when I was in my late 30s, while I was idly browsing for a new hobby, that I happened to chance upon a Paint By Numbers website. Maybe out of nostalgia or some old, deeply-ingrained sense of loyalty, I thought; “ah, why not?”
As it turned out, that simple Paint By Numbers painting was the spark that reignited my interest in art. And just like the reborn Phoenix rising from the ashes of a former incarnation, my rekindled interest in art has become an all-consuming raging and spectacular inferno. If I am not in the midst of creating a new artwork, I am thinking about ideas for future paintings.
Recently I have become slightly obsessed with the retro pop art movement of the 1950’s. It marries two of my favourite interests; art and comics.
I have also begun experimenting with a faux mosaic aesthetic, using acrylic and watercolours on canvas, and finishing it off with a generous layer of gloss varnish to really lean in to the whole tiled mosaic appearance.
So as to not plateau in my artistic mediums, I have also begun my journey into digital art. I try my best to never stop learning. When you begin believing that you know it all, you begin engineering your own downfall.
And so, my artistic journey goes ever on…
